From what I'm seeing....

Placing the parts at (0,0)
The left sensor is mounted at nominally (-65,0).

Using the 55mm and 55.03mm parts as references.

You need a 9 degree angular deviation before your sensor can even detect the micrometer difference error resulting from the sensor misalignment.

That's pretty misaligned. About 20% of the total range.

Now if I move the sensor to (-65, 0.5) I'll start to detect the difference error at 8.5 degrees misalignment.

What all this is telling me is you shouldn't worry about these errors. They are just barely within your sensors' detection range and will have no impact on you measuring your part to within 30 micrometers.
