    Salesman simplified?

Is it helpful to reduce the Travelling Salesman (TS) problem by considering those cities neighboring closest to each other in each of n similar but separate groups, numbering approximately the logarithm of the conventional route permutations? Recall Stirling's approximation: ln|n!|=n*ln|n|-n...

Limit of f(x)/q(x) with q(c) = 0 that can not be simplified.

    Is it true that if \lim_{x \to c} \frac{f(x)}{q(x)} with q(c) = 0, f(c) \in R and if that fraction can not be simplified any more, then this limit will always diverge. Example: \lim_{x \to 1} \frac{1}{x-1} diverges because: \lim_{x \to 1^-} \frac{1}{x-1} = - \infty \lim_{x \to 1^+}...

    Can this logic be simplified?

Is this the right section to post this? I am not sure where it belongs. I apologize if it's the wrong place. I'm an adult, working on a personal project and wonder if this logic can be simplified. It's been about 100 years since I took a math course, so please forgive my lack of knowledge...

Want to know how the denominator simplified in this derivative problem

Hello, I was following the solution of this derivative equation, but before the last step, there's a simplification to the denominator which I don't know how the author did it.

Provided solution isn't simplified and is wrong?

Observe the following problem: Notice that the answer doesn't seem right. Shouldn't K be C*(4*pi)*(3/(4*pi))^(2/3) rather than C*((4*pi*3)/(4*pi))^(2/3)? Or am I wrong and I don't understand? If this answer isn't wrong, then why isn't it simplified? What's going on here? This was the...

    Can this be simplified?

    $$\frac{(2A - B) \cdot (2A - B - 1) \cdot (2A -B - 2) \cdot (2A - B - 3)}{(A - B) \cdot (A - B - 1) \cdot (A - B - 2) \cdot (A - B - 3)}$$

Which of these would be the most simplified?

I was doing some practice questions when I stumbled upon an answer which could be written two ways, and I don't know which would be considered most simplified and why. Would it better to write it as 1/2 * x^(-1/2), or 1/(2sqrt(x)), and why? Also, is it better to have (x^5)/2 rather than 1/2 * x^5?

Alternative, simplified proof for the Bourbaki Fixed Point t

    Theorem: Of a mapping f : A ? A such that the relation from any pre-image under f to any image under f is '?', i.e., x ? f(x) for all x ? A, the statement 'there exists some x ? A such that f(x) = x' is true by necessity. Proof: Admit some B ? A such that propositions (1) and (2) are true with...

Can this be simplified any further?

Can the following be simplified any further? b(a-b)(x+y)-y(a+b)+b(x+y)(a-b-1) I've spent a lot of time to get it to this point, but I just want to make sure.

What's the simplified of equation of this ellipse?

Sketch the graph of the following function: 9x^2-72x+y^2-4y+112=0 I have tried using completing the square, however I was unsuccessful in my attempts to simply the equation. The answer for the equation of the graph is meant to be 36(x-4)^2 +4(y-2)^2=144. Anyway, if anyone could help me out on...

can this be simplified for S?

I was thinking if the formula below can be solved for S? L = 8Dsquared/3S + S I already got the answer through the quadratic as numbers were given for L (80) and D (2.5). But just for the heck of it I tried to resolve it for S. Multiple S variables keep fouling me up no matter what route...

    Need verification of simplified integral

I have an integral as shown below in figure 2. I have just bought a TI-89 Titanium graphing calculator and when I put that integral in it gave me an exact answer that is a simplified equation of the integral shown in figure 1. My question: is that correct? The reason I am so skeptical of this is...
