Trigonometric Functions

4. For the function y=3cos(2x - 8 )-5, determine the phase shift and the period of the corresponding graph.

5. Given the g(x) = asin(b(x-c))+d. Determine the values of a and d, given that the range of g(x) is -5 ≥y ≥10.

7. Given that f(x) = 2cos(3(x-4))+k, determine all possible values of k for which y=f(x) will have no x intercepts.

For $y=a\sin[b(x+c)]+d$ or $y=a\sin(bx + \phi) + d$ ...

Amplitude = $a$

Period, $T= \dfrac{2\pi}{b}$

Horizontal shift = $c$ ... right if $c<0$, left if $c>0$
Phase shift = $\phi$

Vertical shift = d ... upward if $d>0$, downward if $d<0$. Note that $y=d$ is also called the "midline" of the graph.

Now try to answer each question using the above information ...

Yes I know all the formulas to find them, however, I tried this about 3 times now and have always gotten the same ones wrong and need to know what I'm missing

you need to show what you're getting wrong so someone may provide you with the necessary guidance toward getting them correct ...
