Hi all,

I am having serious trouble trying to read the formula attached. If someone could explain to me what it means in English I would be extremely grateful.

I know what most of the variables are but I am wondering if the P has a mathematical meaning?

P (in this context) means probability.

That says that the probability that the value of MTBF lies between those two fractions of MTBF (which depend upon $\displaystyle \alpha$) is less than $\displaystyle 1- \alpha$.

Typo. Should be $\displaystyle \ge 1-\alpha$.
