Testing My Hypothesis About a Relationship

When I say "testing my hypothesis," I am not talking about statistical hypothesis testing. I expect x and y to have a strong positive correlation. I expect the same change in x to affect y more for the middle values of x than for each end, like the shape of y = -x^2. What would show if the same change in x affects y differently based on the value of x?
