I tried to answer it and got 3/4 or 6/8 after using the union set operation for 4/8 or 1/2 and 3/8, based on what is being asked in the problem. https://www.mathplanet.com/education...lityofevents Last edited by MIIF; March 28th, 2018 at 09:54 PM.

Well I am with you. P(even) = 4/8 P(less than 4) = 3/8 P(even and less than 4) = P(2) = 1/8 P(even or less than 4) = P(even) + P(less than 4) P(even and less than 4) = 4/8 + 3/8 1/8 = 6/8 = 3/4.

Same as: what is probability that it does not end up on 5 or 7?
