Have two questions in basic probability, need some help solving (see attached).

1. $\displaystyle P(Y<y)=P(X^2<y)=P(\sqrt{y}<X<\sqrt{y})$ This is simply the integral of the normal density between these limits. 2. $\displaystyle P(U<u) = P(X<u \ and \ Y<u)=P(X<u)P(Y<u)$. The last term results from independence.
