probability function

Hello, I've got the next question:If there are 3 balls and I put them in boxes in a random way,indepedenttly every one, considering the aleatory variable X= number balls on first box, which is the table of probability function X?? Thanks anyway

Re: probability function

The distribution is binomial, with p = prob. that ball is in first box (assume same for all balls), and n = 3.
(q=1-p). (Pk = prob(X=k)).
P0 = q^3
P1 = 3pq^2
P2 = 3p^2q
P3 = p^3

You will have to specify p, which could depend on the number of boxes.
