Repeated numbers

I was working on this problem and I was wondering if there is a way I can prove this using the same methods as repeated decimals to rational fractions?

Math Focus: Elementary mathematics and beyond
Perhaps a concrete example will help...

111111 - 222 = 111(1001) - 2(111) = 111(1001 - 2) = 111 * 999 = 111 * 3 * 333 = 333 * 333
