Clarification on Tranformations

I am basically an electronics engineer struggling to understand some of the mathematics involved in it for example Clarke Transform and Park Transform. Are these transforms similar to Cartesian to Polar kind of transforms. How to actually imagine this kind of transformations. Do we have any software tools which will help me to imagine? How do I know what ever conversions i have done is correct or not? I mean to say if it is fractional part up to what digit should I consider? I am not sure if this question falls under electronics or mathematics.

A web search returns several hits, if that will help.
