What is the difference between AC generators and DC generators? ...and AC is used for what and DC is used for what? Please, I want simple answers. Thanks all.

There is no difference in principle, for volts can only be generated from motion when magnetic field changes. Thus we use AC when we want the volts, curent and magnetic field to keep changing. We use DC when we want it steady or at least constantdirection as in electroplating.

Both generators produce voltages(positive and negative). Simple battery cell produces positive one end and the other negative. DC generator just like simple battery cell. In AC generator the polarity changes where in some countries it is 50 times per seconds, unit Hertz, 50Hz Transmitting AC voltages for long distance is cheaper than DC voltages since transformer can easily stepped up the voltage to reduce the voltage drop. Edison(DC) versus Nikola Tesla(AC). Tesla won and the whole world is using AC system to power up all the country.

Also, why are we talking about this so many months later? MRWhy hasn't been back since writing here, and ... well, let's just say that these users barely come around anymore!
