Can anyone here identify why > this < works?

This is using column A and B to generate column C to add to column D to get column E, which is then used to populate column I with the particular exponent.
Why does the variable exponent always reduce the even number back to the odd? Or: "How does it know?"

1. Recursive Collatz Aspect (this is the same sheet as in the previous post.)
2. Trifurcate Collatz.
3. Vetting Collatz.

This is, in essence, my original approach, albeit better organized via google spreadsheets, and hopefully graspable to those who can use the fancy symbology and also relate to excel style terminology.
