What to include in the introduction?

I am writing an introduction to a first course in elementary number theory. The topics are linear Diophantine equations, modular arithmetic including FLT and Euler's Generalization, quadratic residues and Non - linear Diophantine equations.
How can I write an introduction to this showing linkage between the various topics and hook potential students to do this course? What is the motivation on covering these topics?

Thanks for the thanks. I'm feeling guilty about this. OP seems like a sincere person asking a reasonable question. He's relatively new to the forum. Why was I rude?

Same OP just happened to post the same question on another math-related forum, one I hold in low regard and whose moderation policy I am currently unhappy with. So I was annoyed when I saw this duplicated here.

But really, my pique is personal and totally unrelated to the OP. If I were a nicer person I'd have never posted in the first place. Just wanted to clarify that.
