I don't think we can do it on this forum. We generally use text (sometimes with special characters like α≠√∞) or post pictures.

|x|, x^3 x^x, sqrt(5), etc. We use calculator notation a lot.

Math notation

One could also use TeX notation.

e.g.: 5 \over 3

for

5
_
3

Advantages: less ambiguous than some other notations, some people have TeX viewers, relatively easy to earn basics well enough to read without viewer, open (public) format, virtually any math notation can be represented well

Disadvantages: some people do not have TeX viewers, some will find it hard to read,

Yes, I like TeX, but it's a little much to expect people to copy/paste to a reader, methinks.

Well, it wouldn't be a problem if julien would get the site to be able to use LaTeX.

Unless you want to code it up with me on the programming forum, we should probably cut julien some slack. Getting server programs to work nicely together isn't always easy.

Yeah, I saw it. Unfortunately programming a hack job subset of LaTeX strikes me as kind of fun, so I thought I'd lightly poke you with the suggestion.

I'm not good at making graphics files from programs, but I did make a few (like my avatar). :P

Forgive me for being dense, but what exactly does that picture represent?
