This forum will be a very important resource for me.

My name is Bryan, and this forum is going to be a very important tool for me in learning Math. I am currently at the Algebra level. Whenever there is something that I don't understand particularly when searching for an explanation isn't so simple, I'll come here and ask for assistance.

I am going to master Algebra, and other higher level mathematics, before entering college, that way I will save time, not having to take courses that I already know.

My goal is to become a mechanical engineer, and I think the math part is resolved for the most part, because there are so many resources online, especially for me this forum which I am going to begin using.
Thanks from greg1313

Math Focus: Yet to find out.
I'm not sure about how easy it will be to just 'skip' courses that you think you know in college unless you have some sort of proof ("I studied it in the holidays" doesn't count).

Then again, I don't know how these things work in America . Welcome to the forum anyway.

Hey! There is a college here that has a proficiency/placement test, before they actually assign you courses. If I pass that test I will be able to advance faster in my studies! I am sure that proficiency tests have a very important role in administering education, you don't want to give students unnecessary courses.

You do if they're paying you money! Anyway, that's good they have a system for it, I didn't know about that.

I have worked with many engineers. Many of them look down somewhat on mechanical engineers. I do not say that opinion is deserved, but why are you limiting yourself to one branch of engineering?

I've always been curious if that stereotype existed in the US as well.. I often wonder how it came about. Maybe some hooligans think they'll use some eng. skills to beef up their cars or something..
