Newbie Joined: Aug 2016 From: New Zealand Posts: 1 Thanks: 0  Year 7 Math Problem (Puzzle)
CO + CO = NUT In this sum each letter stand for a digit. You must find a solution that works. Here are some attempts. Think of reasons why the first and second attempts did not work. The third does work. Can you find another solution? 1). 41 + 41 = 82 Wrong 2). 58 + 58 = 116 Wrong 3). 64 + 64 = 128 Correct 4). __ + __ = __ I have no idea what this means; please elaborate as much as possible about your answer. This is my guess: 1) Not enough digits as $\displaystyle N \neq 0$ 2) Wrong because $\displaystyle N \neq U$. So this might work, for example: 76 + 76 = 152
