Re: The End of the Year Awards

Albert.Teng : Expert in trick theory.

agentredlum : Excellently explains everything. (plus, obsessed with the "Matrix" )

CRGreathouse : Expert in algebraicNT, convergence, sieve theory, and many more. But the award for him is for staying calm in front of insults.

MarkFL : The only moderator with 10000 posts in his account.

Surya : Obsessed with Goldbach's Conjecture.

ZardoZ : Expert in complex analysis. That section was made for him!

Galactus : Real analyst. His problems can make anyone crazy.

skipjack : Quick response with a genius method.

HallsOfIvy : Genius in linear algebra.

Deveno : Genius in Abstract Algebra.

Anyone got anything else?

Re: The End of the Year Awards

I third all previous posts and like to nominate.

Soroban for best use of LaTeX and clear understandable posts.

mathbalarka for most likely to solve RH because of his excellent skills, young age and therefore great potential.

Hoempa for ingeneous solutions and posing intersting questions that develop critical thinking skills.

:D

Re: The End of the Year Awards

BUT will there be a "voting room" with a few categories,
and we SECRETLY enter our choice for each category?

Like, I know Gregg is absent minded, but don't want
to make that public

Plus some mechanism where we can't vote for ourselves:
else Mathbalarka will vote for himself :P

Re: The End of the Year Awards

We only rarely have more than one nominee for a given category.

Re: The End of the Year Awards

Thank you Greg, for picking up the torch!

I agree with the preceding nominations (well, except for greg1313 being absent-minded :P )

I would simply add that I would nominate HallsofIvy for "going the extra mile."

He takes the time to go through posts, and finds where the student has gone astray and addresses the issues with lucid explanations of why what they have done is wrong. This is much more difficult than just ignoring their work and showing how to do it from scratch, but benefits the student so much more. Keep up the good work, HallsofIvy! 8)
