Hey guys help me with this easy problem please.
Find the equation of the line with slope 3 and passing through the point (2,-3). Write your answer in standard form.

This should be in the "algebra, geometry, etc." sub-forum, but:

The line has slope 3, which means y = 3x +b, for all values of x and some value of b. So, we plug in our point for x and y:

-3 = (3)(-2) + b
(you should solve tis for practice before looking below)

-3 = -6 + b
b = 3

Now, we have the equation:

But, we want it in standard form, so the constant is the only thing on the right side; so, we subtract 3x:


And we're done.
