Weighting and Scoring

Hi there,

I'm looking at the following data
Date Average Shop profit
21-Sep 250
18-Sep 870
17-Sep 240
16-Sep 580
15-Sep 180
14-Sep 110
11-Sep 970
10-Sep 560
09-Sep 880
08-Sep 850
07-Sep 990
04-Sep 240
03-Sep 800
02-Sep 460
01-Sep 690

and trying to find a way to forecast the future but I've been asked to weight the results so that the most recent days is more important than historic.

Is there a standard way (or recommended way) to do this?

many thanks

Sorted

Found the easiest way to do this is using :
"Days away from the most recent"
and a % scoring - say 5% (0.05)

weighting = (1 - % scoring) ^ days away from most recent
