How often do you study?

I guess this is more of a question out of curiosity on my part.

Re: How often do you study?

Firstly, I will interpret this as, how often do I study math?

Unfortunately, this is really difficult for me to say. I do math a lot, perhaps 30 hours a week or so. But is it studying? I read new math and math I'm unfamiliar with often, but not for the purpose of internalizing the subject material. Further, I do a lot of math research, but I don't call that studying either. On the other hand, I am in a physics class which is nothing more than interpreting Newton's Laws using integration, differentiation, and the like. It is more of a math class than my calc I class was... I enjoy reading math blogs, too, if I can find the time. I frequently do learn and internalize things from these, although I would have a hard time calling that studying.

A lot, I suppose, is really the only answer I can give.

Re: How often do you study?

I study for hobby and vocation a lot. I want to know more about the subjects I teach than anyone around, so that I can communicate those topics more effectively. I want to know why teachers are terrible at teaching how to factor trinomials and two-column proofs.

But I'm also taking classes, and I don't study at all for those. I'm pretty busy (which is why I usually reply while driving), and many of the topology proofs that I'm tested on are intuitive.

Rarely. I always find a reason not to.
