An apology to CRGreathouse from that nut Carl Mesaros

To CRGreathouse and the rest of the Math Forum community:
I believe I owe all of you an apology. Whether you believe it or not, I offered
all of my "ideas" in the true spirit of trying to make a genuine contribution to,
not only the mathematical community, but to humanity as well. I purchased
a copy of "Gödel's Theorem : An Incomplete Guide To Its Use and Abuse," by
Torkel Franzen, and as I read from it before coming online, I can understand
the dismay and irritation that arises when I reduces I to nothing - that is, when
idiots reduce intellectuals to nothing.
In short, I will keep my nonsence to myself in the future.

No worries dude. We are always interested to hear new ideas and chew the fat over something challenging. I advise anybody making new ideas to follow this advice:

i) Make sure you do plenty of reading and understand the problem fully first before trying to propose something new.
Reason: there are hundreds of thousands of incredibly smart people (definitely smarter than me!) over the globe studying this stuff; if there's something you are unsure of, chances are it's already been discovered/solved.

ii) Read more

iii) Read some more

iv) Do lots of easier maths first!

v) If, after lots of study, you finally have a solution to something no one else has done before... do everything humanly possible to break it apart. If you can, go back to the drawing board. If you can't, keep trying. When you can't think of anything else to break it, tell some colleagues and try and get them to break it. If they can't break it either, publish it

No problems. We like to speculate just as much as you do.
