Post Help with GED test study

Hey. I have plans on taking the GED test really soon and I am currently studying the mathematics portion of the test. I don't have any trouble with the other portions of the GED test. The problem that I have is that I'm not very good with word problems even though I'm not bad at math in general. I can solve a standard problem provided one, but if it's a word problem, I tend to get confused. It's not always easy for me to pinpoint the formula that I need to solve a GED test word problem. Therefore, I thought of a possible solution and something that could probably help me pass the mathematics portion of the GED test. I looked it up and found out that the formulas that would be on the test are as followed:

Area of a:
• Parallelogram
• Trapezoid

Surface Area and Volume of a:
• Rectangular/right prism
• Cylinder
• Pyramid
• Cone
• Sphere

Algebra:
• Slope of a line
• Slope-intercept form of the equation of a line
• Standard form of a quadratic equation
• Quadratic formula
• Pythagorean Theorem
• Simple interest

I hope this isn't too much to ask for, but I was hoping that someone smart and good at math here could give me some examples of word problems that require the use of these formulas to solve them and, if you have time, how to solve them. I think that's a good way to prepare for the test and avoid future confusion. Thanks a lot.

Have you tried googling?
As example, googling "area trapezoid" will give you this:
