Hi all, The objective is to minimise the actual cost of C of the support rod. The material supplier can only provide the price per unit volume Pv of the material chosen. Show that the objective equation is given by C = PvAL Derive an equation linking the actual cost of the material used to the price per unit volume provided by the supplier. Any suggestions on how best to tackle? Thanks.

Cost is a function of volume v purchased, and price per unit volume p(v) Minimize C=p(v)v subject to v>V=AL. C'=p'(v)v+p(v)=0 You would need p(v). Find v and ck v>AL
