Question Origin of proof of irrationality of square root of two

What is the first known accepted proof of the irrationality of the square root of two or the n root of any prime preferably one that is attributed to someone?

Greg, I saw at that site that a poor demented soul named
Ronald Watkins calculated it to 10 trillion digits in June 2016...

Using 8 digits per inch: 10,000,000,000 / (5280*12*8 ) = 19728.535353....
So the resulting number would be close to 20,000 miles long
