Hello all. I want to find free software that can do "things" with "equations". Idk terms that are in use for such things, sorry, but there is what I need: FOR a(x) = 2x^3 + x AND b(a) = a^2 - 3a I want to see the result b(x) = 4x^6 + 4x^4 - 6x^3 + x^2 - 3x (sorted) In addition, all similar terms (if any) grouped, etc etc. please help ty for moving to the subforum I missed to notice. thanks for the answer, but ... haha, while I was waiting to see any replies I had found that Maxima, and now... have to ask for an alternative, because, as I understand it, any mistake in the syntax leads to the ... socket closing, meaning it works online only. I need program that doesn't rely on any server. Since you know about Maxima, can you tell if there are any program capable to work on thy own(offline)? P.S. The list on wiki doesn't tell me anything, therefore I asking, hoping to save time from trying all from it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...lgebra_systems Last edited by Daughter; November 16th, 2014 at 12:04 AM. Yacas is another CAS system that is free that may do what you want. (You will need to Google for it). You could also try Sage it has Maxima and lots of other mathematical toys built into the default distribution. Xcas will also do what you want. But I find none of these a friendly as Maxima under the wxMaxima interface. CB Last edited by CaptainBlack; November 16th, 2014 at 03:18 AM. | |

Not sure whether it's what you're looking for, but maybe try Inquist. Inquist calculation schemes Last edited by skipjack; April 25th, 2016 at 02:41 AM. |
