What do you use for symbolic computation ??

I'm trying to figure out what the most popular symbolic computation software is for two reasons.

A: I just published a paper in the Journal of Chemical Physics and I want to put a code in the supplementary documents, and I'm not sure which program to code it in.

B: I'm starting a computing course at my institution, and want to teach the students how to use a software that's more likely to be used in their future (whether industry or academia).

I'm not interested in numerical computation, so if you use Matlab but NOT the symbolic math toolbox, then please do not vote!
