2014: 400th anniversary of Napier's invention of logarithms


In 1614 John Napier of Scotland published his groundbreaking "Mirifici Logarithmorum Canonis Descriptio".

The link below is to the Royal Society of Edinburgh page on 'Napier 400' summarising the events being planned, which include a free exhibition 'Power of Ten: Inventing Logarithms' by National Museums Scotland and some meetings.

The April 4th meeting in Edinburgh co-hosted by the James Clark Maxwell Foundation and the British Society for the History of Mathematics has a fascinating programme.
