I'm trying to find a good way to represent a distance matrix D where each ith, jth value of this matrix is the distance between matrixslice i and matrix slice j. I asked on MSE (with better detail) but haven't heard a response yet: linear algebra Optimized Distance Calculation for Data Cube Mathematics Stack Exchange Any help would be great!

Perhaps you did not get a response there because no one could understand what you were asking. What is meant by a "matrix slice" and how are you defining the "distance" between two "matrix slices"?

$\displaystyle D_{a,b} = \C_{a}C_{b}\ = \sqrt{\sum_{i=1}^n\sum_{j=1}^m C_{i,j,a}C_{i,j,b} } ~~~\in \mathbb{R}$

You still haven't said what a "matrix slice" is. I assume that "" and "" are the "matrix slices" but I don't know what those are.
