I read The following articles : "ELASTODYNAMIC DIRECT BOUNDARY ELEMENT METHODS WITH ENHANCED NUMERICAL STABILITY PROPERTIES" ,(Int. J. Numer. Meth. Engng. 46, 871888 (1999)) in this paper it is mentioned this statement: "An increase in the magnitude of the diagonal term implies an improvement in the conditioning number of the matrix, which implies improved stability of the system" I search a lot but i did not find any reference which give me information about mentioned statement. please introduce me a reference which give me information about above statement that increasing in the magnitude of the diagonal term leads to improvement in condition number. It would be very nice from you if you kindly help me. I am looking for your reply.
