Triangle's area which is in a trapezoid

The are of the trapezoid is 234. Can you help me find the area of the darker triangle?

 May 14th, 2019, 05:25 AM #2 Global Moderator   Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 20,937 Thanks: 2210 Area($\small\triangle$BCE) = Area($\small\triangle$BCD)/2 and Area($\small\triangle$ADE) = Area($\small\triangle$ADB)/2. $\therefore$ Area($\small\triangle$BCE) + Area($\small\triangle$BCD) = Area(ABCD)/2, and so Area($\small\triangle$ABE) = Area(ABCD)/2 = 117.
