Locus of Points Equidistant From A Line Segment

I learned about the locus of points x units from a point or a line, but not from a line segment. For example, what is the locus of points 3 units away from y = 0 from (0, 0) to (5, 0)? Is there such a thing?

you'll have a cylinder capped by spheres at each end.

Think about it.

Math Focus: Mainly analysis and algebra
Or, in the 2 dimensions mentioned, a rectangle with semicircles on the end, centred on the endpoints of the line segment.
Thanks from romsek
