Check out this app, it solves the equations for you and you can use it to check your answers.

It solve quadratic equations only. But so will a calculator if you know the quadratic formula!

You can also use this PARI/GP script:

quad(a,b,c)=my(d=sqrt(b^2-4*a*c)); [d-b, -d-b]/2/a
