Good day, I am not sure if logs belong here. Please excuse. In photonics, I am not sure what this means. A and P? Amps, Photons, Decibels? A = 10 times log(Pin/Pout) It is physics and maths, in relation to light and optic fibres and maybe attenuation. What is the eqauation for?

I don't know the answer to this, but a quick search of this equation in Google yielded some search results applicable to describing power output in decibels. See for example: http://www.wirelessapplications.com/...conv_Final.pdf I'm not sure why you would ever want to use this equation for photonics. Perhaps you have a microphone in your setup that is converting sound to electrical signals to photons in an optic fibre?
