need help with homework

Hi All,

I have this question for my son's homework:
Explain how knowing that 5/8 = 0.625 helps you write the decimal for 4 5/8

I know 4 5/8 is 37/8 = 4.625

not sure how knowing the above answer wil help me to write the decimal for 4 5/8

Any help will be appreciated.

One of those questions that's so simple you rack your brain trying to figure out the answer because the obvious answer is too simple.

$\displaystyle 4\frac 5 8= 4+\frac 5 8 = 4 + 0.625 = 4.625$
Thanks from blazingacool and NinjaX3
