How 44/100 in third step?

Giri invested Rs X in scheme I for 3 yrs at the rate of 12% per annum
at S.I while also invested Rs (X+4000) in scheme II for 2 yrs on C.I at
20% per annum rate. Find the total sum invested by Giri if total interest
earned by him is Rs 3360.

Sol: X → 12% → 3 – S.I
X + 4000 → 20% → 2 – C.I
36/100X + 44/100(X + 4000) = 3360

X = 2000

I know C.I = P(1+ R/100)^n.

I1 = X*0.12*3 = 0.36 X

I2 = A2 - P2 = (X+4000)*(1.20)*(1.20) - (X+4000) = (X+4000)*(1.44 - 1) = 0.44 X
(If compounded once per year.)

I1 + I2 = 0.36 X + 0.44 X = 0.80 X = Rs 3360

Like I said, don't focus on how the solution did it. They are skipping some steps they assume to be obvious. Focus on solving it yourself using what you know.
