Working out the perimeter of the tent?

You and your friends have decided to camp for a night. Your friend claims the perimeter of his tent is 7.5 metres.

Work out the perimeter of his tent to see if he is correct.

The perimeter of the tent =
m

I converted the measurements into metres so all the same measurements were in metres.

240 cm / 100 = 2.4 m
170 cm / 100 = 1.7 m

Then I multiplied 2.4 m x 2 to get the total length on both sides = 4.8 m.
Then I multiplied 1.7 m x 2 to get the total width on both sides = 3.4 m.

Then I added 4.8 m + 3.4 m to get the final answer which equals 8.2 m.
