Working out perimeter

Another tent has the perimeter of 7.2 metres.
If the width is 1.3 metres, what is the length?

I have tried to work this out by subtracting 7.2 m from 1.3 m = 5.9 m. This is the correct answer?

NO.

Assume tent's base is a rectangle, and try again...

Would I multiply the width 1.3 m by 2 as its too sides to the width = 2.6m then minus that from 7.2 m.

Finally, divide by two. It's simpler to start by dividing 7.2 m by 2, and then subtract 1.3 m from the result of that division.
