I have a circular pipe that is 175 mm in diameter that fits through a stainless steel plate. The pipe fits through a cut out in the plate which has a diameter of 183 mm . The pipe will fit through the plate with 2mm to spare all round when the pipe is perpendicular to the plate. I am trying to fit the pipe through the plate at an angle of 22.5 deg. so it does not fit ! ! need to enlarge the hole in an a considered way. I am not sure what size the new aperture should be or even if it should be a circle or an ellipse Thankyou guys.

the new hole will be an ellipse. we'll need the plate thickness to continue. but honestly in the real world I'd get out a round file and just work the plate by eye until the pipe fits.
