Can I Solve this by making an equation

On a map of scale 1 cm : 20,000 cm the area of a forest is 50 cm². On another map the area of the forest 8 cm². Find the scale of the second map.
Can I solve this question by making an equation first?

Yes.

Note that area changes with the square of length.
