Word problem

if I need to average 800 donuts a day but in only 2.5 hours 5 days a week and 8 hours saturday and sunday. How many donuts do I have to do on Sat and Sunday and how many should I really expect to do Mon-Fiday?

Hope that makes sense

$avg = \dfrac{N}{7} = 800$

$N=5600$ (that's a lot of donuts!)

during the week you get

$h_{mf}=(2.5)(5) = 12.5$ hours

and during the weekend you get

$h_w = (2)(8) = 16$ hours

so you get

$h = m_{mf}+h_w = 12.5+16 = 28.5$ hours total

assuming a constant rate of making the donuts this would be

$r = \dfrac{5600}{28.5}=\dfrac{11200}{57}$ donuts/hr

the number of donuts you need to make on the weekend is

$n_w = h_w \cdot r = (16)\dfrac{11200}{57} \approx 3144$

the number you need to make on the week days is

$n_{mf} = 5600-3144 = 2456$
