Viete related problem .

(m-1)x²-2mx+m+1=0 . Find m∈R , so the relation between roots exists x1=3*x2 . Thank you very much !

Call the two roots a and 3a. Then use Viete's formulas for the sum and product. You will end up with two equations in two unknowns a and m.
