please help me while solving this problem

Q1. A can do a piece of work in 36 days, B in 54 days. Both began the work together, but a left 3 days before the completion of the work. How long will it take to finish the work?

Re: please help me while solving this problem

you first find how many days it would take for them to finish this if they are working together, then find the amount they have done after 3 days before the completion of the work, then the rest for b to finish. Lastly calculate the total number of days

note: the question is not worded clear enough, it says that "A left 3 days before the completion of the work." by 3 days, does it mean 3 days of them working together or 3 days for b to do the rest?

Also, PLEASE show your work about what you have done because this may help others to find where you are stuck with so they can help you out in a much easier fashion
