Help me get the square area of my house?

So my mother and me are having an argument over what the square feet/foot of this house is. Now I made some detailed plans of the ground floor and first floor. Is there anyway someone could please take a look at it and add the square feet/foot of the ground floor to the square feet of the second floor and get the total.
I have all the measurements of the walls. It is an odd shaped house as it is over 400years old and many extensions have been added on. I reduces the main house down into segments for ease of whomever could help me out. I measured in Feet and inches but above that measurement i also included the total inches of the distance.

Please post in square foot.

Oh and this stemmed from the insurance form as we have to get the square foot of the house. Please help us!!

Hi,

What is your difficulty here? All the shapes are rectangular and you have all the dimensions.

Find the area of each rectangular space and add them together.

...I know how to add the retangles together, I have the totals and added together. Now how do we get the square footage? That is the main problem we are arguing over. I know how to do it but not posting the answer otherwise my mother will say that people just copied the answer.

I did it a few times over and I got, 422,152 square inches, which translates into 2931.6 square feet. All you do is divide the number of square inches by 144 because that is how many square inches are in a square foot.

How can a rectangle have different widths at each end?

Look at the large room at the centre: 23'11" versus 26'6". What is the correct shape?

Re: Help me get the square area of my house?

That is a good question, I didn't really notice it before. I wonder if it is the difference between the measurement of the outside wall and the inside wall. If that is the case I would need to redo some math and it would change the answer a little bit. Could we get some kind of explanation for the measurement discrepancy?

Such an explanation could (and should) only come from you! Who measured this? What method/tools were they using?
