The answer is the fourth option d) but I don't know how to get to it, I just can't get it right. A manufacturer's supply equation is p=log(1000+q), with q the number of units supplied at price p. The number of units supplied if the price is \$5 is: a) 2 b) 100 c) 99 997 d) 99 000
 November 22nd, 2013, 01:50 AM #2 Math Team     Joined: Jul 2011 From: North America, 42nd parallel Posts: 3,372 Thanks: 233 Re: Please, I need help with a calculation First put in 5 for p $5 \= \ \text{log}(1000 \ + \ q)$ Then use both sides of the equation as an exponent with base 10 $10^5 \= \ 10^{ \text{log}(1000 \ + \ p)}$ Which simplifies by inspection to 100 000 = 1000 + p One more step and you're done.
