Fountain Codes (Luby Transform codes)

Hi, I'm working on demonstarting how founatin codes work (i'm doing it in matlab), however I'm confused on how we encode an LT - Luby Transform code, especially what means degree of distribution and how we create generation matrix. Can someone explain me step by step and as simple as possible how we encode (create generation matrix) LT code. I have found some articles on the internet however they're not so simple to understand.
Thanks in advance
