What power electronics is used in Locotive?

Hello
what power electronics is used in train
like there is what type of ac motor that drive engine?

IGBT, GTO Thyristors immediately spring to mind, but they don't all have power electronics, some just have an alternator/generator attached to an engine, the power being controlled by changing the excitation.
The motors could be AC or DC, the 'type' is simply 'traction motor', but there's nothing particularly special about them.
