Generally speaking, anything that has been designed to use a battery, won't benefit a great deal by getting rid of it, because they need to function away from mains power (any mobile device) or continue to function if mains power stops due to a power cut (a clock, for example).
Supplementing the battery with mains power is a good idea, but this is already available in most cases, you're about 20 years behind.
