Lattice Energies?

Hi everyone,

I know the posts on here are generally about math, but since math and chemistry go hand in hand, I figured I'd give this a try.

I have these two questions on my chemistry quiz, and for some reason, they were not mentioned or explained anywhere in the lesson. It would be greatly appreciated if someone knows how to answer these and could explain it!

1) Put the following compounds in order of increasing lattice energy: BeO, MgS, CaSe.

2) Differentiate between the following lattice energies for the compounds and draw conclusions based on the trends as to why this is true.

LiCl 834 kJ/mol

MgCl2 2,326 kJ/mol

Does anyone know how to do this??
