Math Focus: Abstract algebra
Split the function into two parts.

$$f(x)\ =\ \begin{cases} 2x\ &\ x > 0 \\\\ -2x\ &\ x < 0 \end{cases}$$

So $f'(x)$ will be in two parts depending on whether $x$ is positive or negative.
