Integration - Finding area between curve and axes

Just a quick question here from a buzzing mathemaniac - any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated! I know you guys can help me! :D
Not to blabber on, here's my situation: When talking about using definite integration to find areas, I'm very familiar with how to find
• the area under a curve (i.e. the area between the curve and the x-axis)
the area between two curves
a volume of revolution about one of the axes
And I understand most of these operations can be reduced to a simple formula or algorithm for solving the problem
SO my question is as follows:

• Is it possible to find an area between a curve and the y-axis? [/color][color=#000000]And if yes, what is the formula/algorithm to find the area?[/color]
[color=#0000BF]AND how to find the area bounded by a curve and lines parallel to the axes?[/color] [color=#000000]Again, if there's a simple formula/algorithm for this, that would be greatly appreciated.[/color]

Yes , it is the same for that with the x-axis but this has only meaning if the function is one-to-one .
